(early morning, inside kyle's bedroom)- mmm, god what a night. i'd had sex with not just krystal, but sin AND kome all in one night. i slept easy, but that changed when the first rays of light began to peek through my window. because as soon as the light entered, a barrage of gunfire put holes in the glass, startling the girls awake. i was already up and out of bed, rushing over to the window to steal a look at our attackers. and to my surprise (and secret delight) it was none other than the C.D.F. themselves, headed by the one and only fox mccloud. *oh, it MUST be christmas! first slade, and now mccloud? if there is a god, he fuckin' loves me right now.* i thought with a malicious grin, before turning to exit the room. i didn't get far, after being stopped at the door by my beloved empress, clad in her symbiotic body armor, with only her head exposed. "what's going on? why are we under attack?" she asked, but my stare told her everything she needed to know. "hmph. i figured fox would try and settle the score eventually, but i never thought it would be so soon. head down there and rally the troops, kome, sin and i'll catch up." krystal replied, and with a curt nod, i raced out the door, leaving the girls to their own devices.

(verani palace guard's quarters, five minutes later)- "alright boys, listen up and listen good! we've got a potentially insane anthropomorphic fox trying to beat our front door down. he's tried to kill me, and i'm convinced that he'll do the same to the people of new haven, if we don't take him down ASAP. so, without further delay, let's move! no rest until mccloud's head is on a pike!" i told the new haven city guard, who bowed to me promptly, a stern look of determination etched into their features. i smirked with pride, holding my helmet in the crook of my arm. today was the day mccloud died. because you can kick me off the team, you can have me made wanted by the C.D.F., but mess with my home, try and harm my pack, and i will end you. *i was going to let you live, even after you decided to make my life hell mccloud. but now, i'll give you a fate worse than death for attacking my home. and i don't make idle threats.* i thought to myself, putting my helmet on and sealing it shut, which in turn made my shields and HUD flicker to life. the rest of the men did the same, and within seconds, the guard's quarters had filled with hardcore, fight-till-you-get-to-hell soldiers who would gladly kill the C.D.F. to protect their home. and i joined them, walking out with a platoon of D-Dogs at my back. "time to go to war, gentlemen." i replied, walking to the door and opening it.

god i wish i hadn't.

(new haven streets)- the entire town was in disarray, C.D.F. troopers kicking doors in, throwing citizens out into the streets. and we were in the middle of it. "boys, get rid of these blaggards!" i ordered, my voice coming through harsh as a fire ignited in my gut. i drew my sword from its sheath, and recalled a spell dusk had taught me before he left. "ember hurricane!" i growled, slashing diagonally, and smirking when a hurricane of flames engulfed a pair of C.D.F. troopers in the process of executing a family that had disobeyed them. but after that, i was moving, dashing toward C.D.F trooper after C.D.F. trooper, cutting them apart with quick slashes of my blade. but when my guards and i finished up with the troops, we heard low rumbles from the sky, and looking up, i barely had time to dodge when a landmaster appeared from the sky, crashing to the ground where i was a second before. "are you fucking serious? a LANDMASTER?!!!" i shouted, gritting my teeth in annoyance. the turret of the mammoth tank turned to me, and i thought my fate was sealed, but i was wrong. "LEEROY JENKIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNSSSS!" a voice called from my left, and within seconds, the landmaster exploded in a heap of flaming scrap metal, with a familiar form standing at the epicenter. krom's. "DAYUM that felt good. sup hot-head? miss me?" krom replied, rubbing his wrist. he smirked when my teeth ungrit, and i sighed in relief. he'd actually saved my ass. "at least you finally showed up. how the hell did you DO that? i heard you at my left, and now you're right in front of me, standing in a crater where a landmaster should be." i replied, cocking my head in confusion. but then i took a closer look at him. he was wearing armor similar to mine, with the helmet off, and had armored gloves on. which means.... "you joined the DevilDog program, didn't you?" i asked accusingly, but krom clapped, much to my dread. "yep, they gave me this sweet set of armor, and i figured you could use a little help in the war effort. besides, krymson's with you now, right? i'm not going to let anything bad happen to her if i can help it. so if i have to protect this city with you, i'll do it gladly." krom explained, and for a moment, it was like looking in a mirror. krom was willing to put his life on the line for krymson, as i was willing to do so for krystal. our differences blurred for a moment, and for once, we were like clones. until a mortal shell landed in between the two of us, pulling us back into reality. "well, what're you waiting for? skin that mccloud fucker! i'll hold off any soldiers that breach the walls!" krom replied, and without a word, i made for the gate to new haven, sheathing my sword and unholstering my rifle. i cocked it, prepping for my upcoming fight, and snarled, my lips flaring up underneath my helmet. "you've pushed things one step too far mccloud. time to put ya down." i growled, kicking open the gates and bracing myself for the barrage of gunfire.

(clearing outside of new haven, third person POV)- "sir! the fugitive's come out of the city, he's within tranq range! should we take the shot?" a wolf, no older than kyle, asked the field commander, who pulled his binoculars off of his eyes, revealing a rather subtle, but large scar across the right side of his face. "no. i want to deal with the little shit myself for destroying my team. his little incident turned my own team against me, and i will make him PAY." he replied, and stood from his perch atop a landmaster gun mantle, unholstering a pistol on his hip. "sir, hold on! there are three more fugitives leaving the main gate! they fit the profiles on the women you were looking for sir!" the wolf replied once again, making the field commander smirk, twisting the scar on his face with the movement of his cheek. "good. let's show them how fox mccloud plays war, shall we?" he asked, but the wolf hadn't answered. he was already dead. "hello, mccloud." a voice replied from the field commander's left, and he barely had enough time to turn and fire before he was forcibly thrown from the landmaster.

(clearing outside of new haven, kyle's POV)- "well well well, how you doin' mccloud? it's been a while. shit, last time i saw you, you kicked me and krystal off the team. and look how bad of an idea that was." i taunted venomously, kicking mccloud in the side when he was still down. he groaned in pain, but i paid it no heed, choosing to continue speaking. "or better yet, let's talk about how you made my entire pack wanted fugitives on corneria, huh? how long did you think THAT was gonna last?" another kick for the poor sod, making him groan again. "you seem to have a history of fucking friends over mccloud. with all the shit you've given a guy who meant no harm in the first place, what would james say if he saw you now?" i replied, smirking maliciously when fox spat at me, showing his teeth. "don't you DARE speak about my father! you have no right you fucking mutt!" he hissed, but i didn't listen. "aww, touch a nerve did i? well too fucking bad. that's all you did to me since day fuckin' one. you hated me, just because i stole your girlfriend. you betrayed me when you had the chance, and you thought i didn't have the balls to get even with you once i found out.. well i've got news for you, mccloud. i DO have the balls to get even. because i'm putting down an animal today. why? because at this point, that's all you've become. a jealous, sore loser of an animal." i replied, holstering my rifle and pulling out my sidearm, aiming it at mccloud's head. "any last words before i pull the trigger?" i asked dully, not really caring about what he said anymore. "yeah. i wish i could've done this over again." fox replied, and quirking my brow at his words, i looked down at him with quizzical eyes. "what do you mean mccloud?" i asked. "i wish i could've done this all over again. you're right. i betrayed you. i was jealous of you; jealous of your ability to lay your feelings out on the table without fear of scrutiny. but there's one more thing i need to say before you kill me-" fox began, and tightening my grip on my pistol, i became suspicious of mccloud's motives VERY quickly. "-die." he finished, pulling a pistol from behind his back and firing, peppering my armor with pistol rounds. my shields flashed violently, and growling, i aimed low, and popped to shots into mccloud's knees, making him scream in agony, and drop his weapon. "you fucking idiot. i was going to let you live after that, but now-" i began aiming high and hitting mccloud in the head, sending his now lifeless corpse to the ground with a thud. "-you can spend eternity in hell, you bastard." i growled out, holstering my pistol with a sigh. it didn't have to be this way. it didn't. but fox couldn't let it go. he marked my pack for death, he attacked my home, and he harbored a hatred for me unlike any i'd ever felt before. "makes you wonder, don't it?" krom asked from beside me, and turning to him, i cocked my head. "how one man can harbor the hatred of a dozen? my guess, he was already on the brink of insanity, and you basically trey songin'(1) him drove him off the edge. don't blame him though, if you had the weight of the entire lylat system pressed on your shoulders, you wouldn't be any different." krom replied, and i started to find his words eerily prophetic. "may pyrohkt grant him redemption, then. i won't deny that in this life, fox became mad with power and misused his place in the C.D.F., but maybe in another, he can become more tolerant to things like jealousy and hate, and be more open with himself. as it stands now though, i'm just glad he's gone. nobody attacks my city, and my pack, and lives to tell the tale. sigh, but for now, let's head back. krymson and krystal are going to be worried sick, and i'd rather not get my ass kicked by either of them." i replied, shaking off the adrenaline rush of getting shot at, and motioning for krom to follow. "fuck yeah, hell hath no fury like a vixen scorned." krom replied with a smirk, keeping pace with me while we made headway back to new haven.

but the entire way back, i couldn't help the nagging feeling at the back of my mind that this wouldn't be the last time mccloud and i would cross paths. like somehow......."shit." i replied, whirling around to face where mccloud's body was, only to find it gone. "he fucking houdini'd us!" krom replied, finally turning to see what i was seeing. "c'mon, we need to report this to albarti. i don't know who mccloud sold his soul to, but they gave him some serious power if he can vanish without any evidence that he crawled away. i mean for god's sake, i shot him in the head! he should've been dead!" i replied, before doubling my speed towards new haven.

AN- and so chapter 57 is completed. fox mccloud is slain........or is he? krom shows his devotion to krymson and her allies, and kyle exacts revenge on the man who cast him away. three birds with one stone, talk about a triple kill. anyway, read and review, favorite, comment and watch, i'll see you guys next time. later.

Dude, I have to ask, why do you have such a problem with Fox McCloud? Regardless of what you make him do in the story, why does he bug you so much?
